Scarborough Atlas: bringing Scarborough’s history to life!

We’re excited to announce the launch of a new project on Humap: Scarborough Atlas

An interactive map of Scarborough created by the Scarborough Museum Trust in collaboration with Coventry Digital, brings Scarborough’s history to life through historic images and maps, videos, and even 3D artefacts.

Users can explore historical landmarks, buildings, and monuments of Scarborough alongside a wealth of information and images about the town’s history and culture. The map will also feature historical antique maps that can be toggled and explored, as well as walkable heritage trails

Scarborough Atlas will be an invaluable resource for tourists and locals alike. Visitors will be able to plan their trip to Scarborough, discovering the town’s rich history and culture and finding the best places to visit. For locals, the map will be a fantastic tool for exploring the town’s history and discovering the hidden gems their home has to offer.

The Scarborough Museum Trust team have been working closely with Coventry Digital to make this project a reality. Coventry Digital are the team behind Coventry Atlas, an interactive map of Coventry’s past and present that was created to celebrate Coventry’s turn as UK City of Culture in 2021.

Scarborough Atlas will also feature a variety of educational resources that will help educators and students learn about the history and culture of Scarborough. Additionally, the project will include a section for local businesses and organisations to showcase their offerings and services.

The Humap team is absolutely thrilled to welcome Scarborough Museum Trust onto the platform. We can’t wait for you to explore Scarborough’s rich history and culture with this new historical interactive map!
