The Culture & Media Education Foundation (文化及媒體教育基金) (CMEF) is a non-profit organisation based in Hong Kong. Their mission is to promote technical and media literacy through arts, education, and community projects.
CMEF runs a wide range of activities, from cultural exchange and technical training to internships and volunteering, all aimed at empowering people in Hong Kong to engage critically with media and culture.
CMEF wanted to build an interactive digital map of Hong Kong that could showcase collections from a wide range of community groups, each with their own stories, archives, and perspectives.

Bookshops, places of worship, community spaces, sites of interest – this map has a little bit of everything.
CMEF approached us after seeing some of our other work with grassroots and community-led projects. They needed a platform that wouldn’t demand high-spec devices or steep learning curves, and Humap was designed from the ground up with access, flexibility, and collaboration in mind.
