Our mission is to make interactive mapping easy and fun. We empower our clients to create and curate beautiful digital maps for any purpose and audience, without having to worry about any of the tech stuff. 

Humap’s Webby-award winning founding team has over twenty years of experience in the digital agency world with specialisms in design, user experience, Geographic Information Software (GIS), and software development. During their life as a digital agency they worked with the BBC, V&A Museums, Tate, Cambridge University, BUPA, the University of London, and Birmingham Museums. 

In 2016 the team was commissioned to create Layers of London, an interactive mapping platform, as part of a multimillion-pound funded digital project led by the Institute of Historical Research. Layers of London took 2 years to develop and launched in 2018.  

The project was a huge success, and it became obvious that there was a gap in the market for a dynamic, multimedia mapping platform in the community engagement, education, and cultural spaces that anyone could use.

In 2021, the team launched Humap! Now 3 years old, our international client-base includes the Universities of Cambridge, Pennsylvania, and Vienna among others, and several beloved heritage and educational organisations. Humap is being used for citizen science, sharing collections, celebrating local history, bringing primary sources to life, highlighting hidden histories, supplementing school curricula, and so much more.

User-focused: We prioritise user experience above all else—so you know your maps will be easy to use, easy to share, and beautifully designed from start to finish. Tutorials can be found on our website for every aspect of the onboarding process, and also for our user-generated content feature. 

Ethical: Running a platform is a big responsibility and we take it seriously. We reserve the right to remove hateful, explicit, or misleading content from our platform.
