Base maps

A base map is the map across the whole project that sits under records, collections, and overlays. The base map uses OpenStreetMaps as its basis and we at Humap can create many different styles on base maps on your behalf. It is also the map that will show results for the Find a Place search feature.

Available base maps

There are 6 base maps you can choose from.  Your Humap platform will be provided with a default base map known as Default. To assign a different base map from the selection from within your admin area, navigate to Setting > Map Settings > Base Maps. You can choose any number of the available base maps and order their presentation.

Multiple base maps

It’s possible to have more than one base map. A typical example would be to have the Default base map and the Satellite base map available in the project. When more than one base map is included in your project, a Change Map option will be presented to users of the map.

Bespoke base maps

The Humap team have the capability to design bespoke base maps. Something we’ve done for quite a few projects and could be a base map that is more illustrative in nature, or requires very particular data not normally present on the regular base maps. Again, contact us if you would like to discuss the design of a new base map. They typically incur an extra cost depending on requirements and complexity.
